Further debate required to continue developing a working, effective Allowable Solutions framework

Government has announced key decisions through the Queen’s Speech1 on the future of Allowable Solutions and achieving Zero Carbon new homes from 2016.

The Zero Carbon Hub2 welcomes the confirmation that Allowable Solutions3 will be included within the Zero Carbon definition, and that the Zero Carbon policy for new homes will be implemented from 2016. These confirmations are positive steps which begin to provide the certainty industry is seeking.

Performance Gap Evidence Review Report Released

The Zero Carbon Hub has today released its latest report continuing the work on the Design versus As-Built Performance Gap project. This report provides industry and Government with a structured review of the evidence of where and how the Performance Gap occurs within the current build process. This latest report follows on from the Interim Report published July 2013 [1].

Submission papers wanted for International Conference on Zero Carbon Buildings

The Hub is supporting an international conference, being held by Birmingham City University on 11-12 September, on Zero Carbon buildings today and in the future.

The goal of the conference will be to provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge, and to establish an increased awareness of this developing field. The conference organisers are looking for individuals to submit papers which will contribute to the following themes:
